Hilton San Francisco

New Country Inn & Suites Opens

The chain of New Country Inn & Suites Hotels by Carlson is happy to announced the opening of a new hotel for business at 925 Highway 124.

The hotel is located off I-85 exit 126 and it is close to both Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Gwinnet Country Airport. It is seven miles of three golf courses and close to a numerous attractions areas including Lake Lanier.

Tourists are traveling more

According to a recent study leisure travelers have been showing signs of traveling more. The Piper Jaffray and Citibank have shown that travelers have been spending money on booking hotel rooms as well as plane tickets.

Despite the global crisis that hit hard this year in the hospitality industry the U.S. Travel is growing again and there is a higher demand in this industry. The analysis showed that 2009 is going to look increasingly better every month.

The analysis showed that:”The U.S. hotel industry’s occupancy and average daily rate (ADR) – and therefore revenue per available room (RevPAR) appears to have stabilized during the course of the summer, albeit at low levels.”

The hospitality industry is positive that revenues will keep growing by the end of this year.

New Vice President at Hilton Hotels

The Hilton Hotels Corportation has recently announced that Mr. Paull Ades will be joining the company as Vice President of Labor Relations. He will be in charged of overseeing labor relations for the global company.

Mr. Ades has worked for the National Labor Relations Board’s Enforcement Division in Washington D.C. as a trial attorney. He graduated from the University of California Berkeley School of Law and he got his bachelor’s degree from William College.

Mr. Lucas commented about Mr. Ades position: “We are excited to welcome Paul to our team. His knowledge and experience in labor relations will be a great benefit to Hilton. We strive to have a healthy and positive relationship with the unions around the globe who represent our team members, and I know that Paul shares that view.”

3 New Hotels To Be Opened in Nigeria

The group Rezidor has recently announced that they are planning to open three hotels in Nigeria under the following names: The Radisson Blue Hotel, Victoria Island LAgos and the Radissson Blue Hotel Abuja.

Rezidor defines Africa as one of the main business development areas for the future. The Rezidor group is currently active with hotels in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Mr. Andrew McLachlan, Rezidor’s Vice President Business Development Africa has commented about this new project:”igeria’s plan for economic expansion based on the tourism sector and foreign direct investment in its extractive industries (Oil, Gas and Mining) has created a gap between supply and demand in the hospitality industry.”

He also said:” Investors possessing the required financial and management capabilities are expected to take full advantage of this opportunity to accommodate travelers to and within Nigeria.”

The hotels are schedule to open in 2012 and they will offer a total of 575 rooms.

Taj Coral Reef Re-Opens

River Road Hotel Files For Chapter 11

The River Road Hotel Partners LLC is the owner of the InterContinental Chicago O’Hare hotel and five affiliates.

With the recent global crisis, the River Road Hotel Partners LLC has recently announced that they have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The company filed the Chapter 11 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois today. The River Road Hotel Partners LLC listed estimated assets of up to $100 million and estimated liabilities of up to $500 million.

The InterContinental O’Hare Hotel employs 147 full-time and 15 part-time employees.

Garland Resort in Michigan Has a New Owner

The Garland Resort has announced the sale of the resort assets to New Frontiers Capital, LLC. The hoel located in Lewiston Michigan will no longer belong to the Ron Otto family.

Mr. Otto commented about the sale:”While this is a bittersweet time for our family, we couldn’t be happier with the new owners and the plans they have for the property. New Frontiers Capital has the interest of guests, members, and employees at the forefront.”

New Hilton Garden Inn Opens in Blacksburg, VA

Crestline Hotels & Resorts has recently announced the opening of the new 137 guestroom Hilton Garden Inn in Blacksburg,VA.

Morgans Hotel Group Reports Loss in 2nd Quarter

According to the Associate Press the Morgans Hotel Group Co. has recently reported a loss of $10.1 million in the second quarter of 2009.

Executives from the Morgan Hotel Group Co. believe that the economy is still challenging but they positive that things will change soon.

President and CEO Fred Kleisner commented:”We saw some returns in occupancy in the second quarter and modest, but nevertheless meaningful, pockets of promise across the business.”

The occupancy of the Morgans Hotel Group fell 12.5% in the second quarter. For the period ended June 30, revenue went down 31% to $56.4 million from $81.3 million.
