One of the most well-known hotel chains will expand in Greece. Hilton Worldwide is marking the beginning of what promises to be a significant change in the hotel industry on the Island of Kos in Greece.
The hotel is scheduled to open in May 2010 and it will operate as a Doubletree by Hilton Resort. Hilton Worldwide has singed a a franchise license with Akti Helona S.A to operate the hotel under the brand of Doubletree.
N.J. Andriopoulos, President of Lakitira Hotels and shareholder of AKTI HELONA, the management company for the resort: “All of us at the LAKITIRA HOTELS Group are delighted that our brand new resort hotel in Kos – Helona – today joins Hilton Worldwide to become the first Doubletree by Hilton Resort in Greece.”

According to the latest report of STR, the U.S hotel industry showed a significant increase in occupancy and revenue per available room during the holidays.
During the week of December 27th, 2009 until January 2nd, 2010, U.S. Hotels indicated positive numbers. This situation was seen back in December 2008.
The report from the STR stated:”In year-over-year measurements, the industry’s occupancy increased 5.9 percent to end the week at 45.5 percent. Average daily rate dropped 4.0 percent to finish the week at US$99.79. RevPAR for the week rose 1.6 percent to finish at US$45.37.”

The Hyatt Hotel has announced its management agreement with DB Hospitality Pvt. Ltd starting on mid-2010. The Park Hyatt Mumbai, Grand Hyatt Goa, Grand Hyatt Pune, Hyatt Place Pune, and Hyatt Place Mundra will be manage by DB Hospitality Pvt. Ltd.
Ratnesh Verma, senior vice president of real estate and development for Hyatt said: “The introduction of five new Hyatt properties in India, one of the world’s most vibrant emerging markets, illustrates our commitment to expanding our global footprint.”
He also said:” We are excited to provide our guests with access to our world-class, preferred brands in these increasingly popular markets in India.”
