In a recent public advertising, the government of Himachal Pradesh expressed interest and invite hotels to bid for setting a five star and seven star hotel in the area.
A spokeswoman said: “Only proposals from companies who are already in the business of running luxurious hotels with the skill to build five-star and seven-star hotels will be considered.”
There are currently a lot of hotels getting ready to present proposals, as this location is ideal for tourism and profitability. Time will tell which hotel will win the contest.

According to a recent article, a group of animal protection asked the Chinese government to protect the animals in Hotels.
Apparently, one of the chefs from the Holiday Inn East Taipei in Taipei County “scalded the chicken to death before plucking it and proceeding with the rest of the cooking process” in a conference held at the hotel.
EAST Director Chen Yu-min commented:”It was a wrong demonstration” that violated Taiwan’s laws regulating animal protection. The Chinese government will take immediate legal action against the chef as it was a public demonstration.

Monte Carlo is one of the most expensive places to visit, however, the crisis didn’t affect this place. Hotels in Monte Carlo were still the most expensive in the world.
Alison Cooper commented: “2009 was a really interesting year for UK travellers holidaying abroad.” And if you think about Monte Carlo, there was no doubt that people target this place as their final destination.
“While room rates across the world decreased by 14% on average, it is apparent that in some destinations prices did still go up.” Such as it was the case of Monte Carlo.

As the economy slowly recovers from last year’s crisis, Travelocity has a new directions to take users’ attention.
The following was posted on the New York Times:
“That impulse to look for deals has inspired Travelocity, part of Sabre Holdings, to introduce a feature on its Web site where users can find so-called opaque hotel discounts — that is, those with the names of the lodging choices omitted. The feature, called Top Secret Hotels, is to be promoted in a campaign scheduled to begin on Wednesday.”
Victoria Treyger, chief marketing officer at the San Francisco office of Travelocity commented on this campaign: “We are in a deal-oriented environment and consumers are looking more and more for deals.”

According to a recent press release, the owner of the Crowne Plaza Hotel agreed to pay $75,000 in fine. The had been accused of pumping wastewater into Hackensack River.
The hotel lost the lawsuit and paid to the state Division of Criminal Justice. The hotel now needs to create a new plan to avoid throwing waste.
A representative from the court said: “After nine months of extensive engineering studies, monitoring and installation of new automatic pumping equipment, we today resolved allegations first brought to our attention by state environmental authorities back in 2009.”

According to yesterday’s article published in the Wall Street Journal, the giant hotel chain Starwoods has officially started its “March Limited Time Offer Sale” to generate more traffic among its hotels.
“The offer is valid for Thursday — Saturday arrivals at hundreds of participating hotels and all days of the week at resorts with no arrival day requirement and for a maximum stay of seven nights around the world through May 31, 2010.”
Hopefully with this campaign, Starwoods Hotels will be able to recuperate their position in the market by generating more traffic in their hotels.

According to a recent study, the USA Today has released the following article mentioning why users cannot find hotels in Columbus, GA. in major hotel searchers.
“Columbus, Ga., home to Aflac Insurance and the Army’s Fort Benning, has vanished from the cities listed on Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity because of a brewing dispute over hotel taxes.
If you search for hotels in Columbus, you’ll instead receive listings across the border in Phenix City, Ala., even though Columbus has dozens of hotels including a Marriott, a Homewood Suites and Holiday Inn.”

According to a recent article by the Associated Press, the Saudi billionaire prince with the majority of stocks in the Citigroup wants to buy all the shares from the Kingdom Hotel Investments.
The Associated Press reported:
“In an e-mailed statement Monday, Kingdom Holding Co., headed by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, said its Kingdom K-5-KR211 unit will offer $5 for per share and GDS for the 44 percent stake it does not already own in in KHI. It valued KHI at $843 million.
Alwaleed, ranked this month by Forbes as the world’s 19th wealthiest billionaire, said the deal offers minority stakeholders short-term liquidity at attractive terms.”

Mr. Pepe Fanjul, the billionaire sugar baron, was robbed at the Four Season Hotel in Los Angels during his visit for the Oscars. The thief run away with a total of $45,000 in jewelery.
It was like a movie, Mr. Fanjul was in his suite at the Beverly Hills Four Season Hotel when he was robbed by the thief known as “Ricco Suave”
Mr. Fanjul commented: “We were victims of a robbery at the hotel. He took my wife’s jewelry that was both valuable and sentimental. We are OK and have reported the incident to the police.”
