Carlson Hotels Will Open in Martinique

The famous chain of Carlson Hotels has announced the renovation of the former Radisson Hotel by adding the Radisson Hotel & Spa Martinique, located in Shoelcher, Martinique.

The hotel will feature 175 rooms all beachfront and this operation will cost $10 million and it will open in 2011.

Thorsten Kirschke, executive vice president for Carlson Hotels commented: “This property represents another step forward expanding Radisson as a powerful, consistent first-class brand as part of our Ambition 2015 growth strategy.”

Marriott Opens New Resort in Malaysia

One of the giants in the hotel industry, Marriott International, will open a completely brand new resort in Malaysia in 2011.

The hotel will be located along the banks of the Melinau River in Sarawak. Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa will have an innovating decoration.

At the moment, the facility is operated by Borsarmulu Resort Sdn. Bhd. under the brand Royal Mulu Resort, but it’ll soon change to Mulu Marriottt Resort & Spa.

1st Nudist Hotel To Open in May

Believe it or not, Nudist Hotels are starting to be popular and Turkey will be the first country to host its first Nudist Hotel.

Apparently, there has been an important demand for this type of hotels and Turkey has been paying attention to what customers want.  The hotel will open on May 1st, 2010.

“Nudism is allowed inside the hotel premises, but not on the nearby public beaches,” Ahmet Cosar, bookings manager at the Adaburnu-Golmar hotel told local newspaper Milliyet.

LaSalle Hotel’s Report

The Hospitality industry suffered a lot last year, but some hotels and resorts managed to overcome the global economical crisis.

However, LaSalle Hotel reported for this first quarter a net loss of $25.8 million compared to last year’s Q1. Michael D. Barnello, President of LaSalle Hotel Properties commented:“While we continue to expect 2010 to be a challenging year, we are encouraged by the recent improvement in demand within the industry and our portfolio.”

He also said: “Our hotels are experiencing steady increases in booking activity in both the group and transient segments.”

Hawaiian Hotel Increases Sales

The Hawaiian Hospitality Group has recently announced its first quarter report and the numbers are significantly different compared to last year’s quarter.

The company managed to increase sales by 43% in this first quarter, thanks to all the events that the hotel hosted during March.

President, Scott Francis from Hawaiian Hospitality Group said: “Hawaiian Hospitality Group is making excellent strides.Our signature Loulu Palm Estate property is becoming a premier venue for weddings and other special events on the North Shore.”

He also commented: “Sales are increasing dramatically due to our marketing efforts and growing reputation as a unique, eco-friendly destination on Oahu‘s exquisite coastline. We anticipate further sales growth as we expand service offerings and develop additional venues. We have begun booking for 2011 as well.”

Universal Orlando Resort Q1 Results

2010 Q1 Report

The Monarch Casino has reported its first quarter results and the numbers presented are significant compared to last year’s Q1.

“The net revenue of $34.4 million which is $1.8 million, or 5.5%, higher than the $32.6 million reported for the comparative quarter in 2009.

The Company announced quarterly income from operations of $4.2 million, EBITDA(1) of $7.5 million and diluted EPS of $0.15 which represent increases of 118.0%, 47.1% and 150.0%, respectively, when compared to the prior year’s first quarter.

Revenue generated in the casino, food and beverage, hotel and other operating departments increased by 5.9%, 4.1%, 7.5% and 16.8%, respectively”
